January 2008

I’ve had a crazy few days.  And I didn’t remember I was supposed to take a picture on Sunday until Monday, when I was on a plane and it was dark.  Oops.

This is my current big project – based on Indigirl’s Charisma Cable Sweater.  I’ve been working on it slowly since December, and it’s coming along.  I haven’t had much knitting time recently (I’m in Florida for work, and I’m taking two classes this semester, and sort of getting a business off the ground), but this sweater has been beckoning to me….

Posed oh so elegantly on my hotel bed.  I wish I had someone who would make my bed and leave me little bottles of conditioner at home!

Apparently Tuesday is my sweater day. I am loving how the sweater is knitting up! I can’t wait for it to be a full sweater. The yarn is quite pleasing- rustic and wooly. It will definitely be a hand knit looking hand knit!

pretty rim

This is the rim of the baby hat I finished making over the weekend. It’s Miss Dashwood from Knitty, Winter 2004. I knit it in Blue Sky Alpaca organic cotton, and it’s a dream to work with. Definitely one of my favorite yarns. The hat had a picot cast on and a row of bobbles around the rim. Cutest baby hat ever!

I finally took out my sewing machine today.

I had really wanted to start on Lindsey’s chuppah, but I can’t find my self-healing mat ANYWHERE, so I ordered a new one and will have to wait a few weeks (as I’m away for work all of next).

I wanted a quick project with little cutting or piecing and no pattern.  Lindsey suggested some sites to me, I picked out this one.

The outside fabric I’ve had for about four years – I found it on sale and bought all of the yardage the store had.  I have pillows made out of it on my couch.

The inner fabric is a fun faux-stockinette print.   Knitting without knitting!

I added a button from my new button stash, gave it a quick iron, and I have a new knitting bag.

This is my knitting on the way to work this morning. I am loving knitting this sweater. I have to think, but not too much. I had to do math, but not too much. And it’s very impressive looking, but not too impressive. Sweater = Love

Scarf Landscape
In July, I decided to knit Dan a scarf.

On Sunday, I cast off.  Phew.  What a scarf!

It’s amazingly soft, incredibly warm, and best of all, DONE.

Q in a box

Is it really Monday already!? SORRY! This is a picture from our move on Saturday. Adorable! All my craftiness is still packed away!

All my brain seems to be able to handle knitting wise are long skinny mistake rib scarves. I guess I’m building up my gift giving stash for next year? This is the beginning of my second in a week…

Isn’t the yarn cool?  I got it in Chicago in December.

River Scarf Sun 3

This is a close up of the river scarf that I gifted to Becca this weekend.  The fibers and colors look so beautiful together.  ooh alpaca!

 Yesterday, I moved.

My new apartment is great.

I’m exhausted.

This was my no thought involved scarf I started last night.  Simple mistake rib with amazingly soft baby alpaca.  I want to curl up inside of it and take a nap.
