February 2008

This pattern is a little more intense than the patterns I usually knit.  But so far, I’m loving the results, even if it is a bit of a pain in the neck.

It has to be like 60″ long.. I’m at about 3″.  I have until May.

Table centerpiece

I’ve been thinking a lot about my centerpieces. You see, I feel like I will end up with a lot of excess stuff if I constantly buy cute things for the middle of my dining room table. I’m totally not into that. These were vases that I bought from Ikea for way cheap, the mat is a placemat, and the flowers were a gift from a friend. The vases are actually heading into my studio after the flowers die- so these things won’t go to waste. I usually have a banana fiber bowl full of fruit on my table. It’s nice to see the fresh flowers on my table when I walk in, though. It keeps reminding me that Spring is coming.

I have enough of that brown yarn to make a sweater… but I can’t decide on a pattern.  I’m still up in the air about it.

My work friend had this scarf on. It’s from Talbots. I love the color, and the construction is really interesting.   I’m not sure how it’s made.  I’ve been thinking about it since I saw it.  hmm…

I’ve been kind of obsessed with cabled mitts lately.  This is the first of a pair.  I love the color, and the yarn (organic O-Wool) is lovely.

orange afghan

This is an afghan that my granmother crocheted. I have it on my couch and often cuddle with it while hanging out in the evening. It’s nice to think that the knitted items that I make will stay within the family for a long while.

Sunday.

I still need to put the thumb in, but one mitt! is done! yay!

Perhaps you are thinking, Saturday?  Isn’t that when Lindsey should post?

Lindsey and Ben just left post-brunch.  Lindsey took this picture last night and asked me to post it for her – it’s the beginnings of her wedding shrug!  The yarn is a lovely soft cotton blend, and the blue is a perfect match for the blue details in her dress.  She’s making it with short sleeves, and is getting married in 14 weeks!  So she still has plenty of time to finish it :)

I haven’t been doing a lot of knitting.  I have been quilting.  But I don’t want to reveal too much.

But what I always do is eat!  I managed to bring my lunch to work every single day this week!  Woohoo!

Here’s tomorrow’s lunch.  Three turkey meatballs, some chickpea salad from Trader Joe’s, and a Laughing Cow cheese wedge.  Yum!

I love you

This is a Valentine’s card that I’m making for… someone. It’s all yarn and glue and some glitter glue! I love getting crafty for Valentine’s Day.
