March 2008

I finished my Swallowtail shawl right before I left for LA for two days.  As soon as I got back, I had to take some photos of it.  Now, all I think about when it comes to knitting is lace.  It’s a little weird, but very nice to think about.

I love it.  This is the Swallowtail shawl blocking late Sunday night.  It was one of the funnest items I have ever knit.  And I can’t wait to cast on another one!

Look at those nupps!  Love the nupps.

Eventhough it looks like we had a really fun party- this is the mess I left while working on wedding invitiations. They are coming out really well, but I am about to run out of double sided tape (the orange pieces are the film on the back of the double sided tape). The invitations are all I’ll be doing this weekend! Woo hoo!

Knitting in trasit. This picture was really taken on Friday night as Ben and I travelled to South Jersey for Easter. We had a great time, but the train ride was heinous. I did knit, but we were squished in the back of the bus in the three seater next to the bathroom with someone we didn’t know. It was the only two seats left when we got on. And I was knitting my wedding shrug, which is a good thing, but I didn’t take enough notes when I did the first side, the the second side might be a little different. Which is what I was afraid of, but alas- I must knit on!

I was so excited to come home to a box from Aria Bridesmaids. I wasn’t expecting my order for Lindsey & Ben’s wedding to be here till the end of April – this was a wonderful early surprise! It’s a lovely, soft silk shantung in a muted teal green – this top with the long, a-line skirt..

I’m hoping this relates tangentially to craftiness as I am writing and officiating Lindsey & Ben’s wedding – but pictures of text on a computer screen just aren’t as pretty as this silk fabric.

Look happy - or I'll blog about it.JPG

This is Ben wearing his neckwarmer that he had misplaced and we found between two of the seats as we were cleaning out the car to have it towed away. Funny, huh? He, obviously, won’t be receiving any more knitted gifts!

I’ve been hard at work on my wedding invitations. We finally decided on wording, and a font or fonts- and an overlay. There were some changes at the last minute because they were out of the original overlay, and we cheaped out on some things, but they’re beautiful and I love them!

I ripped Jeanie out.  So sad.  But I’m almost an entire skein into this Swallowtail shawl, and I’m in love.  Sometimes, ripping knit stuff out is hard – but I totally made the right decision.

I’m hopelessly behind in life.

This is my lunch from last Thursday.  I made baked chicken, rubbed down with spices and braised in broth and vermouth.  I served it with a cumin yogurt sauce.  It was delicious, and made tons of leftovers.  Including this lunch.

Lindsey and I went on a yarn adventure last weekend!  We visited WEBS, one of the most amazing yarn stores I’ve ever seen.  We were both completely overwhelmed.  This was my impulse yarn I bought while waiting in line – two skeins of Louet Gems Fingering.  Lovely.

As I said, everything’s been crazy this week, and I haven’t had much time to knit. Here’s the progress on my Jeanie shawl – exactly the same place I was the week before.

This Saturday Jessie came up and we had a great time at WEBS! Look at all that yarn!!
