I began a mitered square baby blanket with all of the organic cotton I had lying around. I love it. I want to make a lindsey-sized one. I doubt that will ever happen, but maybe someday. Yes, I am reading Mason Dixon Knitting, and yes I do want to knit myself a bathmat and a drawerful of pot holders.

On a whim, I made cookies on Sunday afternoon.
They weren’t my best. I didn’t know you had to use less whole wheat flour if you sub it for white flour, so they’re a little dry.
Here they are, in a box, on their way to someone’s office.
When you eat them, maybe you should dip them in some coffee or milk? It might help the texture a little.

I have been working on some paintings, and I had planned to use this method of transfering black and white copies with acetone. It did not work on the canvas, but I really like how it looks. I love the blurry texture of the structural lines of this bridge. I’ll have to figure out somewhere else to use it!

I went to Windsor Button and bought a ton of embroidery floss to make more brooches. I’ve been having a ton of fun with them, and I can’t wait to play around more with these fun new colors! I’m going to need to go buy more felt soon, or maybe I’ll wet felt some of the roving I have.

I’m so behind on our mini-knit along! Rumor has it that Lindsey has FINISHED THE BODY OF THE SWEATER! I need to kick myself into gear!

Well, this post is a little delayed, but here I am! On Saturday my parents, Ben and I went on a whirwind tour of New Hampshire. We went to the Anheuser Busch Brewery and Swanzey to see covered bridges. Then we went to Jaffrey and saw the most amazing fireworks display I’ve ever seen! It was a great day, and Ben did a great job planning!

After spending the weekend crocheting, I finally got out my copy of Happy Hooker and relearned those more complicated stitches. I really like this! A. I forget how easy to follow the directions in Debbie Stoller’s books are, and B. How interesting some of the pieces are.

Sometimes it takes me months to officially finish a project.
[Or years. I totally have a pair of socks I knit two years ago and I've never woven in the ends... but I'm not a big sock knitter, so I don't think I'd end up wearing them anyway].
I finished the knitting for this shawl in mid June, I believe. It’s the Shetland Triangle from Wrap Style in DK weight silk/wool blend (Manos Silk Blend) in this oh so pretty colorway that reminds me of Starry Night by Van Gogh.
As usual, blocking is amazing. Look at those crisp edges! That lovely lace pattern! The movement of the stitches!
I think this will end up a Christmas present, so I’m trying not to get too attached…

So, I was knitting circles, or attempting to, on Friday night and realized that if I knew how to crochet circles – my life would be totally easier. I got out the crochet hook and went at it! I think these are going to end up being backs of brooches, but I’m very proud! On Saturday I was also working on a crocheted cat, but I had a lot of trouble with the tail! And then I put it away and couldn’t find it for the picture. Ah well. Crocheted animal next week, I suppose.
